santa fe, nm | Landscape painter Tim Kenney returns to Santa Fe with a show featuring his signature aspen tree works, known for their brilliant colors. His oil on canvas paintings bring life to the aspen groves he paints, often en plein air. In Textures, he will also introduce a series with new subjects, including flowers, oak trees, and cloudscapes.
Kenney’s use of color and layered paint textures create landscapes with incredible depth, transporting the viewer into the scene. Having grown up fly fishing in the wilderness of New Mexico and Colorado, Kenney’s familiarity with the landscapes he paints is evident in his work. Even if a viewer hasn’t actually stepped foot in the landscapes his paintings are based off of, Kenney strives to transport them there. “When these aspen paintings are complete they relay the feeling of being in nature and being with these trees,” Kenney explains. “Collectors often comment that they have actually been in a spot that reminds them of a certain painting.”
Since beginning his fine arts training in 2009, Kenney has become a prolic artist, painting everyday. He has created a collection that perfectly captures the way he sees the natural world — full of beauty, color, and life.
All are welcome to attend Textures, opening on Friday, September 22, at the Beals & Co. Showroom, 830 Canyon Road.
